Russians Recorded Bomber’s Calls, FBI Calls Russians Islamaphobes

Posted in Terrorism, Washington on April 27, 2013 by desertdweller

So today the news reports the Russians recorded a call between the Tsarnaevs where “one of the Boston bombing suspects vaguely discussed jihad with his mother.”  (H/T Drudge).

Here’s the kicker:

As it was, Russian authorities told the FBI only that they had concerns that Tamerlan and his mother were religious extremists. With no additional information, the FBI conducted a limited inquiry and closed the case in June 2011.

Based on the FBI’s current training manual, connections between Islam and violence were purged:

An internal FBI investigation into its counterterrorism training has purged hundreds of bureau documents of instructional material about Muslims, some of which characterized them as prone to violence or terrorism.

2 + 2 = 4.

“Radicalization” is a myth?

[Updated: fix attribution of the site hosting Walid Shoebat’s article.]

Walid Shoebat posts an exposé at The Right Scoop The Boston Bombers Radicalization (Myth vs. Fact)  after the Boston Marathon bombers were identified as Islamists.   Radicalization is not a “slow-cook” process:

Western research into ‘radicalization’ is all based on a myth; there is no slow-cooking-crock-pot and there is no process in which moderate Muslims get ‘radicalized’. Fact is, ‘radicalization,’ if indeed this term is the proper term, is not a process, but rather a button which can be pushed in seconds that transform Muslims into terrorists.

Was the older brother a “martyr?”

Americans need to monitor Tsarnaev’s funeral. Will he be washed and shrouded with white cloth or will he be buried whole in his original clothes in which he died? This makes a big difference, since the second choice would mean that the family believes in his martyrdom.

Get real, America!

Ambassador Stevens’ so-called “Security Detail”

Posted in Foreign Policy, Terrorism on September 18, 2012 by desertdweller

Some information is coming to light about the “security detail” attached to Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi.  Glen Doherty was tasked with tracking down American made shoulder launched missiles.

In an interview with ABC News last month, Glen Doherty, a 42-year-old former Navy SEAL who worked as a contractor with the State Department, said he personally went into the field to track down so-called MANPADS, shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, and destroy them. After the fall of dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the State Department launched a mission to round up thousands of MANPADS that may have been looted from military installations across the country. U.S. officials previously told ABC News they were concerned the MANPADS could fall into the hands of terrorists, creating a threat to commercial airliners.

Liberal Brains go “pop!”

A most thoroughly enjoyable posting about one of my favorite authors, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, over at BigGovernment by Mr. Wrestling IV:

Well, she was black, so they could not dismiss her as a racist; she had lived in Somalia, Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands and the United States, so they could not call her an ignorant provincial hick; she was an avowed atheist, so they could not call her a Christian bigot on a crusade against peaceful Islam; and she was multi-lingual, articulate, and brilliant, so they couldn’t just call her stupid. All the pejoratives they usually apply to people who disagree with them wouldn’t work, and so they were left to confront her ideas, and those ideas stripped them naked, rent their garments of superiority and condescension into tatters at their feet, and left them angry and confused, whining to each other in the corners of the room, unable to say anything to her face. Their favorite weapons, ad hominem name-calling and sneering condescension, were disarmed.

Muslim Militias in the USA

Robert Spencer posted this clip, and I want to pass it along:

Now, why would fully garbed Muslim women go through militia training on US soil?

Friday News Dump – KSM Bombshell

This is insanity.   A war crimes tribunal wouldn’t be held in US territory, and is arguably more appropriate.  Letting him set foot on US soil changes everything, and exposes all involved to much more risk.

Interpretations of Islam

Posted in Terrorism on November 8, 2009 by desertdweller

Incredulous claims of Islam being a “Religion of Peace”  took another hit in Fort Hood, Texas this week.   While the government seems unwilling to recognize the peacenik arguments internal to Islam are losing, we have an Army Major with Islamist red flags infiltrating our armed forces.   Fox News picked up on this, as well.

From the Telegraph article, note the following statement (emphasis mine):

Kamran Pasha, the author of Mother of the Believers, a new novel relating the story of Islam from the perspective of Aisha, Prophet Mohammed’s wife, was told of the al-Awlaki connection from a Muslim friend who is also an officer at Fort Hood. Using the name Richard, the recent convert to Islam described how he frequently prayed with Hasan at the town mosque after Hasan was deployed to Fort Hood in July. They last worshipped together at predawn prayers on the day of the massacre when Hasan “appeared relaxed and not in any way troubled or nervous“.

How’s that work?   Quite well, thank you, if your core religious beliefs train you it’s acceptable to murder.
